Wooden Toys, Made with Love

Pioneer Wooden Toys was established in 1980 and was based in Paerata just outside of Pukekohe,I had a mid life moment 5 years ago and left the corporate world to pursue living a life that brought me and more importantly children parents Grandparents alike joy and happiness  :)

Woodworking has been a lifelong passion of mine, I have renovated several houses and being a father myself, I found i was often in the shed crafting dolls furniture and catapults with my daughter alongside me providing the ideas for her next toy, or improvements to my designs!

My father is a qualified cabinet maker and joiner by trade and is now a builder of top end houses and holiday homes in Akaroa for the last 40 years, you could say sawdust runs in our blood!

He has now retired and produces a few our native timber detail items in his workshop at home. His craftsmanship is legendary and he is indeed a inspiration for me in many ways.

Around 80 per cent of our sales are directly into preschools and kindergartens these days and as the amount of ECE centers grow in all areas of New Zealand we do welcome inquiries from private owners wanting specific toys for new start ups or refurbishments.
